       Long Distance Satellite Telephone (LDST) service provides an opportunity to industries, power sector, oil exploration sites etc. located in remote and inaccessible areas to communicate with the rest of the world.  In this service, the telephone connections from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta or Shillong are extended to customer premises using Satellite system.  The antenna of diameter 1.8/2.4 metres is required at the customer premises. The telephone connections are provided from the respective Satellite Earth Station falling within the zone.  For providing service from an earth station outside the zone, permission of Telecom Directorate is required.  M/s. BELis the supplier of LDST equipment. The terminal equipment is to be procured by the customer from the supplier and it approximately costs Rs. 12 lakhs. The access charges are as given below:
